Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about this campaign and what District 6 representation should look like.
Are you a Republican or a Democrat?+
I'm running as an independent candidate.
That means I'm not tied to a party platform or national political agenda. My loyalty is to District 6 residents, not to a party structure. I'm focused on local governance — schools, infrastructure, budgeting, public safety, and accountability — not partisan politics.
County government works best when it's practical and community-centered.
Why run as an independent?+
Because District 6 deserves representation that is accountable to neighbors first.
An independent candidate can:
- Listen without party pressure
- Vote issue-by-issue
- Build coalitions across political lines
- Focus on local solutions rather than national narratives
This campaign is about community input shaping policy, not party leadership shaping positions.
What qualifies you to serve as County Commissioner?+
My experience is rooted in operations, accountability, and public-facing leadership.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration (Human Services concentration) and have spent over two decades working in roles that required:
- Budget oversight
- Policy enforcement and compliance
- Conflict resolution
- Personnel management
- Data tracking and reporting
- Direct service to the public
County Commission is about governance, oversight, and responsible decision-making. My professional background is built around those disciplines.
What does a County Commissioner actually do?+
A County Commissioner:
- Votes on the county budget
- Oversees public safety funding
- Approves contracts and long-term debt
- Supports school funding and capital projects
- Participates in policy decisions that affect county services
It is primarily a legislative and oversight role, not an executive one. The position requires discipline, analysis, and community engagement.
What are your top priorities?+
My priorities focus on what the County Commission directly controls:
- Transparent budgeting
- Accessible public engagement
- Responsible oversight of major projects
- Long-term school infrastructure planning
- Strengthening coordination between county departments and community partners
Full details are available in the Priorities section of this website.
What is "District 6 by the Numbers"?+
That section provides publicly available Census data about our community — including income levels, housing statistics, education attainment, and poverty rates.
Before proposing solutions, I believe we should understand the facts. Shared data helps ground the conversation. You can view it on the District 6 page.
How will you stay accountable if elected?+
I commit to:
- Publishing plain-language vote explanations
- Hosting regular listening sessions
- Maintaining an open communication portal
- Providing updates before and after major decisions
Transparency should not depend on election season. Learn more on the Transparency page.
I'm not sure I agree with you on everything. Why should I still consider supporting you?+
You don't need to agree with someone on every issue to respect how they govern.
My commitment is to:
- Listen seriously
- Explain my reasoning
- Vote based on what benefits District 6 long-term
- Remain accessible after the election
Representation is about stewardship, not perfection.
How can I get involved?+
